The 1st two years at MIT were fairly interesting as I trained in the art of Improv Comedy, with MIT's premier, and only, improv comedy troupe. A small group of 8-10 improvisers, this experience gave me a huge amount of insight into how ideas are formed and generated. I learned how a close-knit team can create that spark, that intellectual leap that leads to laughter.

Roadkill showed me the value of cooperation and trust in teams. It's often just you and another improviser on stage and you must say the classic, "Yes, and..." building on their story. Furthermore, I learned the value of 'gifts' or pieces of information one can provide to his/her teammates to further the story. For instance, "Gee, I wish Superman hadn't destroyed my ice cream cone." The next improviser might cackle as Lex Luthor, or suddenly assume the role of Superman. Actor and Comedian Adam Sietz, recently showed a group of student entrepreneurs and I at a conference that these kinds of games really do lend themselves to creative thought in the workplace, and in life. I've moved on to standup, but I look forward to perhaps taking the improv stage once more in the next few years.
