Cool Pool was one of my first team projects at MIT, and it was an extremely interesting and enjoyable experience. A first approach at a refined design process, the creation of Cool Pool allowed me to
see how a diverse team could each contribute skills to a final product and presentation, or Playsentation as we called them. Our custom pool balls included the following effects.
Our goal was to create a toy that would facilitate science learning for middle and high school students, and I believe we achieved that.
Not only did we iterate through several designs, working with something known as a Pugh Chart, but we also did user testing and of course, built an actual prototype. Many thanks to Doctorate student
Barry Matthew Kudrowitz, PhD for assembling this class, in its 3rd year when I took it, as well as of course our TA's Chen Liu and Monica Rush. This project really helped excite and motivate me toward concentrating
in product design at MIT.
